Flyglobespan was a Scottish low-cost airline based in Edinburgh. It operated scheduled services from five airports across Scotland, England and Ireland to destinations in Europe, North America, North Africa and South Africa. Its main bases were Glasgow Airport, Edinburgh Airport, Aberdeen Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport. The airline's slogan was "Award-winning airline". It went into administration due to financial problems and the airline declared bankruptcy on 16 December 2009. On 14 December 2010, the business was declared to be in liquidation. Because of the administration, Flyglobespan cancelled all of its scheduled flights.

Entry requirements

Captain: B767-Type Rated only. B737-Depends on flying experience and Command time. All candidates succesful at interview are given Command assessments. Some recently employed Captains have joined directly from Turbo-prop Airlines. If unsuccesful on Sim assessment, early promotion is one of the assessors's options. First Officer: 767 - Type rated or promoted from the 737 fleet. 737 - Type Rated or experienced Turbo-Prop (1000hrs min) only. Please note we are NOT hiring any self sponsor cadet pilots at this time. as of Dec 11, 2007 · 18 yrs old
Second Officer: Cadet First Officers are First Officers who self sponsor their Type rating. A Cadet First Officer pays flyglobespan £15,000 as a contribution to costs involved in obtaining a 737 Type Rating through a TRTO (Type Rating Training Organisation). They are employed and paid upon commencement of Line Training at £25,000 pa. Qualifying Non Type-Rated 737 pilots will have £15,000 deducted from Gross salary over a 3 year period in respect of their contribution to their Type Rating Training. Whilst undergoing Training non Type-Rated 737 First Officers will be paid £25,000, upon completion of Line Training this will rise to ?32,000 and on attaining 500hrs on type their salary will rise to £40,790. Whilst Line Training, 737 Type-Rated First Officers having in excess of 500hrs on type will be paid £32,000, upon completion of Line Training this rises to £40,790. as of Mar 25, 2008 · 18 yrs old
